The Sukhumvit area of Bangkok is known for its outstanding rooftop bars. Not only are these bars on the top of skyscrapers, they are all 5* and luxurious (well, most of Bangkok, really).
TIP: Don’t go to these bars if you are afraid of heights! Most of the seating is lined up to the glass edge.
Majority of these bars are in walking distance from each other, if you want a free downloadable map, just enter your information below and I would love to email it to you!

– Octave –
Octave is one of the most popular rooftop bars in this area of Bangkok, and for good reason! They have a lit up, circular bar in the center of the rooftop with tables and lounge chairs lining the glass.
I would recommend coming here for cocktails and appetizers to watch the sunset. They have a full menu including sushi, sliders, tacos, oysters, wings and so much more!
Location: This bar is perched on the 45th floor of the Marriott Hotel, you will get an unobstructed view of the Bangkok skyline.
Hours: They are open daily from 5pm-2am, with a DJ playing all day.
Dress Code: Smart Casual. No sport or beachwear allowed. No flip flops for men.
– Sky On 20 –
Sky on 20 is more of a casual and laid back bar. They have large trees, fairy lights, and comfortable lounge seating.
While the views are not as spectacular as Octave, their cocktails are significantly better. This bar is home to my favorite cocktail in all of Bangkok! You can check out their menu here.
Location: Sky on 20 is located on the 26th floor of the Novotel Hotel.
Hours: They are open daily from 5pm-1am with happy hour from 5pm-7pm. There is a DJ playing everyday except for Tuesday’s, because there is a live band playing instead.
Dress Code: Smart Casual. No sport or beachwear allowed. No flip flops for men.
– Vanilla Sky –
When I went to this bar, it was not very crowded… which depending what you are looking for, is either good or bad! You are seated either at lounge couches or high tops right along the glass.
The view from Vanilla Sky was my all-time favorite. You really felt like you were dining in the sky! While you sip on your ice cold cocktail, you can soak in the views from the entire Sukhimvit area. You can check out their menu here.
Location: Located on the 36th floor of the Compass SkyView Hotel. What is nice about this location is this hotel has 2 other options: Kavia Night Club and MOJJO rooftop and lounge.
So if you hate Vanilla Sky, all you have to do is take the elevator down to floors 35 or 32!
Hours: Open from 2pm-2am daily, with a guest DJ playing nightly.
Dress Code: Smart Casual. No sport or beachwear allowed. No flip flops for men.
– Nest –
Nest has a very similar atmosphere to Sky on 20, feeling very casual and trendy. I loved the tropical feel of this bar, string lights draped across the seating with lots of greenery.
Nest is a lot bigger than most of the other bars and has big cabana like beds. This is a great option for bigger parties!
Since this bar is only on the 8th floor, you will not be getting the best view in comparison to the other rooftop bars.
Location: On the 8th floor of the Le Fenix Hotel
Hours: Bar is open from 6pm to 2am, with a DJ or live music playing nightly
Dress Code: Smart Casual. No sport or beachwear allowed. No flip flops or sleeveless tops for men.
– Above Eleven –
If you go to Above Eleven, you need to go for dinner! The dinner tables are lined up across the glass with spectacular views of the Bangkok Skyline. On my 10 Day Trip to Thailand, I ended my time in Bangkok with a farewell dinner here!
This is an extremely popular place for a Peruvian/Japanese fusion dinner and you will absolutely need a reservation. If you are just going to the bar, no reservation is needed.
Keep in mind, this is a popular spot to watch the sunset. Even if you are just grabbing a drink at the bar, I would recommend getting there a little early to beat the crowds and get settled at a table before the sun sets.
TIP: When you call to make a reservation, ask for a corner table by the glass for the best view!
Location: At the Fraser Suites with it’s private elevator entrance. There will be signs to direct you, and by how popular this spot is, I am sure there will be a line!
Hours: Open Daily from 6pm to 2am with music playing nightly.
Dress Code: No beach style flip flops or Birkenstocks for women, nice sandals are okay. Only fully covered shoes for men. No Backpacks allowed. No sleeveless shirts for men.
– ABar-
If you are a big gin fan, this is the bar for you! This bar is home to the largest selection of gin in all of Bangkok.
I know most of these rooftop bars are beginning to look and sound the same, but this multi-level bar has a great indoor section as well. If the weather isn’t at its best or you just like to be inside, you can sit along their floor to ceiling windows inside.
Another unique thing about ABar is they have games like Foosball and pool! A lot of people (like me), can get bored just sitting their drinking. At this bar you can mingle with locals while playing some fun games!
Location: ABar is located on the 38th floor of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis.
Hours: Open daily from 5pm to 1:30am. DJ playing most nights.
Dress Code: Smart Casual. Gym wear, beachwear and Flip flops are not permitted for ladies or men.
– Brewski –
This bar is very different than the other bars listed because instead of craft cocktails, they specialize in beer! This bar is extremely casual with food being more of standard bar food (burgers, fries, wings, etc).
You can enjoy a flight of beer at their picnic style seating. Come to this place hungry and ready to share their appetizers family-style!
Location: Located on both the 29th and 30th floor of the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Hours: Open daily from 5pm to 1am. DJ playing every Thursday-Saturday night.
Dress Code: Smart casual, no singlets, flip flops or swimwear are permitted.
– Red Sky Bar –
The red tinted lights and furniture is what gives this bar their name! I would recommend this bar if you are heading out on a date night, because it definitely gives off that romantic feel.
The rooftop section has restaurant seating, unlike the other bars with high tops and lounge chairs. They have high top bar seating, but if you are just going for a drink, this bar may not be the best choice.
What I love most about this bar is their 2 for 1 happy hour before 5pm! You can check out their full menu here. If you are going for dinner, reservations are required.
Location: Inside the Centara Grand Hotel & Convention Center. If you like to shop, there are endless stores to choose from on the first floor.
Hours: Open daily from 11:30am-1pm.
Dress Code: Smart Casual, no singlets, flips flops, shorts
– Long Table –
Long table gets it’s name from the 25 m long, picnic style seating in the inside section of the restaurant. If you are just going for a drink, they have high top seating along the glass that lines their beautiful infinity pool!
The view from this bar is spectacular because there is a park and small lake just out front. So you get a view of the water and city, all in one look!
Location: On the 25th floor of the Column Hotel.
Hours: Open daily from 5pm to 2am. Live DJ playing most nights.
Dress Code: Tank top, sleeveless, athletic clothing, spaghetti strap and tube tops, flip-flop or Birkenstocks are not allowed.
That’s a wrap! These are the best bars if you plan on staying in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. If you want more information on Bangkok travel, don’t forget to check out my 10 Day Itinerary for Thailand and Phi Phi Island Hopping Guide!
