Babymoon in Hawaii – 4 Days of Relaxation & Adventure!

by myperfectitinerary April 15, 2026
April 15, 2026

When I think of a babymoon I picture relaxation, long walks on the beach, lounging at the pool, and a plentiful of great restaurants! Hawaii is the ultimate babymoon destination to spend quality time with your partner before your life changes forever. Plus, us mammas deserve a relaxing getaway after that awful first trimester of nausea, am I right?!

If you are looking to spend your babymoon in Hawaii, I’ve got you covered. In this detailed guide I will go over what island is best for a Hawaii babymoon and a detailed itinerary of that island!

SPOILER ALERT: I think Oahu is easily the #1 pick for a Hawaii babymoon. You have everything at your fingertips like great tours for adventure, beautiful beaches, world renowned resorts, ease of travel, and amazing restaurants!

There’s a chance this free guide contains affiliate links. That means, I may make a small commission (at no extra cost to you) that goes towards little Rosie’s dog treats!

What Island is best for a Babymoon in Hawaii?

Is there any wrong island? I have been to all of the main islands of Hawaii and can confidently say there is no wrong island to travel to, they are all beautiful!

The reason I chose Oahu for my Hawaii baby moon was because I wanted good food, easy travel day, and good photographers because we were taking our maternity photos during out trip. We decided to base ourselves in Waikiki because I wanted an easy travel experience with lots of food options!

I was not sure I was going to like Waikiki because of how touristy it is, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really loved the convenience of the big city, right on one of the best beaches in the world. Waikiki was the PERFFECT destination for a baby moon!

Don’t want to stay in Waikiki!? Consider staying on Oahu’s famous north shore at the Ritz Carlton Resort on Turtle Bay! If you are looking for a resort style stay with everything on property, this is the perfect option for you!

Looking for a different Island? Maybe consider Maui! Here are all my travel itineraries on a romantic weekend in Maui:

  • 20 SUPER Romantic things to do in Maui for couples
  • 5 Day Maui Itinerary
  • 30 Things to do in Kaanapali, Maui
  • Jam-Packed Road to Hana Itinerary

Best Time of Year for Oahu?

Oahu is very pleasant year round, with tourists crowds peaking in the summer months. The winter is still quite warm, but the water temperature dips down and the waves get very large. I would recommend spring or fall months (Mid-April to early June OR September to mid-December) as the best time to visit Oahu!

These periods offer the ideal balance of pleasant weather, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s°F (24–28°C), lower humidity compared to peak summer, and reliable sunshine without the intense heat or heavy crowds of high season. You’ll enjoy easier access to popular spots like Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, and hiking trails on the North Shore, plus better chances for whale watching (especially January–March spillover into early spring) or calm ocean conditions for snorkeling and surfing.

Traveling during these shoulder months also means significant savings on flights, hotels, and activities, as prices drop after summer crowds thin out and before the winter holiday rush begins. Peak summer (June–August) brings warmer water and more consistent beach weather but higher costs and busier attractions, while winter (December–March) offers cooler temps, bigger waves for surfing, and occasional rain but can feel more crowded during holidays.

Babymoon in HawaiiWhere to Stay on Oahu

If you are taking my recommendation and staying on Waikiki, here are my top three choices for hotels along Waikiki Beach:

$$$: The Halekulani

This hotel is widely regarded as one of the top luxury resorts in Waikiki. This iconic oceanfront property offers elegant, refined rooms with stunning views, a serene pool area, direct beach access, world-class dining (including the famous House Without a Key for Hawaiian entertainment), impeccable service, and a peaceful vibe amid the bustle of Waikiki. It’s a timeless favorite for those seeking understated elegance and high-end amenities.

$$:  Waikiki Beach Marriott (WHERE I STAYED)!

This is the hotel I stayed at and thought it was a great stay! I loved how they had nice amenities, walking distance to the beach and all the best restaurants, and a great pool / cabana rentals. I can’t recommend this hotel stay enough!

$: Waikiki Malia

Still a nice hotel in a great location, just not the same amount of amenities offered. You are still within great walking distance of all the Waikiki sites!

Halekulani Hotel Waikiki

If you are looking to stay in North Shore or a more secluded resort, here are some of my recommendations:

  • Ritz Carlton Turtle Bay is the ultimate luxury resort with tons of activities and amenities to keep you busy for your entire stay! North shore is a bit far from the airport and far from other restaurants not on the resort, but if you love a resort stay where you stay at the hotel the entire time, this is the hotel for you!!
  • The Kahala Hotel & Resort is perfect for those of you who want ease of travel, luxury resort style feel, and still be close to the famous Waikiki sights. This hotel has dolphin pools on property, views of Diamond Head, and only a 15 minute drive to Waikiki!

Kahala Hotel & Resort

A Few Babymoon Must-Pack Items!

I never want to bore you with a long packing list, especially because you came here to read an itinerary! But I do always like to recommend just a few must-have’s for this specific trip:

  1. A Cute Maternity Dress for Photos – You are going to want something flowy and beautiful for your maternity photos at Ka’a’awa Beach Park! I would recommend something long and flowy that moves in the ocean breeze. Earth tones and soft pastels look AMAZING against the green mountains and blue water!
  2. Reef-Safe Sunscreen – Hawaii banned harmful sunscreen chemicals back in 2018, and it’s SO important to use reef-safe sunscreen to protect the beautiful reefs! I always use Sun Bum, which you can grab right on Amazon. It smells good, doesn’t feel greasy, and doesn’t make you break out!
  3. Water Shoes – You will need these for Shark’s Cove, trust me! The entrance is all lava rock and your feet will thank you. These are affordable and worth every penny!
  4. Snorkeling Gear – If you are weird about sharing a mouth piece with strangers (no judgment, I totally am too), bring your own set! You can grab a great pair on Amazon before your trip.
  5. A Cute Sun Hat – You’re going to be in the sun all day, and a good sun hat is an absolute MUST. Plus, it makes for great photos! ?

The Ultimate Oahu Babymoon Itinerary

Now that we got the logistics over with and we narrowed down the obvious island for a Hawaii babymoon, we can dive right into the itinerary! This itinerary includes 4 peaceful days on Oahu plus extra ideas at the end if you want to swap something out or extend your trip.

Extending your trip in Hawaii is always a good idea because the best part about vacationing in Hawaii is lounging at the beautiful beaches and relaxing!

Oahu Babymoon Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Honolulu, Oahu

One of the main reasons I chose to stay in Waikiki was how easy it was to get to / from the airport. When you are pregnant, you want the easiest travel day possible! The drive from Honolulu International Airport to Waikiki is only 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. If you stay up at the North shore, the drive is roughly an hour.

There is a plentiful of Ubers, taxis and shuttle companies to take you to Waikiki. Or you can opt in for a rental car like I did! I would recommend renting a car if you plan to go up to north shore. If you only plan to be around Waikiki, then a rental car is not necessary.

Plus, if you are pregnant, you know you will always have a sober driver 😉Babymoon in Oahu

Depending on where you are traveling from and when you get in, you may not have too much time the first day. From pretty much anywhere in the world, it will be a long day of travel, especially if you are pregnant. I would spend the day wandering through the shops and walking along the boardwalk.

Your first sunset dinner will be the best spot in Waikiki, Hau Tree! This was BY FAR our favorite restaurant during our time in Waikiki, we actually ate here a few times.

TIP: Be sure to request a table on their patio and plan the dinner roughly 1 hour before sunset so you can enjoy golden hour & sunset during your dinner.

Dinner on Waikiki beach

Day 2:  Relaxing morning & Afternoon Tour

Morning: Book a spa day, head to brunch & relax at the beach

I always recommend a relaxing free morning after a long travel day.. especially if you are pregnant! A babymoon is all about pampering yourself and relaxing before that baby arrives.

Book a morning prenatal massage or facial right at your hotel. If you are staying at the same hotel that I did, Waikiki Marriott, there is a spa at the hotel. If your hotel doesn’t have a spa, you can book a spa at any of the nearby hotels or have your masseuse come to you!! Click here for a mobile masseuse in Oahu.

Royal Kaila Spa Reception Area

After your spa morning, head out for a nice walk along Waikiki’s boardwalk. There are plentiful options for nice brunch spots in town, an honorable mention is The Hideout which was to die for!! My husband is the biggest foodie on earth and he still talks about this place. I promise you, the food in Waikiki is delicious!

This image shows a rooftop bar with seating, fire pit, greenery, and city buildings in the background at sunset.

If you want to have a beach day on Waikiki and have your toes-in-the-sand, you can rent a beach lounge setup right on Waikiki Beach! Waikiki Beach Services offers umbrella and lounge chair sets near The Royal Hawaiian and the Sheraton. You can check in as early as 7 AM and come and go as you please throughout the day.

Afternoon: Sign up for a tour that suites you best!

Now that you are relaxed and rested, it’s time for some adventure!  Here are some fun ideas:

  • Pearl Harbor – If you are a history buff like my husband, then Pearl Harbor is a MUST. You do not need a tour, but most people do prefer to opt in for a guided tour so they can make sure they learn & see everything.
  • Catamaran Cruise – What is more relaxing and romantic than a catamaran sunset cruise?! Most tours serve dinner, drinks (& mocktails), and have live music on board.
  • Luau – You can’t go to Hawaii without experiencing a Luau! If this is your first time going to Hawaii, this is a must!

Day 3: Maternity Photos & Adventure Day on North Shore!

Morning: Maternity Photos at Ka’a’awa Beach Park

If you are going to splurge on ONE thing during your babymoon in Hawaii (besides the food, obviously), let it be maternity photos in Hawaii. Trust me on this one.. you will not regret it! There is no better souvenir than gorgeous photos that capture this special time in your life, and Ka’a’awa Beach Park is hands down one of the most beautiful spots on Oahu to do it.

Ka’a’awa Beach Park is located on Oahu’s Windward Coast, about 45 minutes to an hour northwest of Waikiki. I know that sounds like a bit of a drive, but once you see the dramatic green mountains, palm trees, and turquoise water all in one frame.. you will understand why it’s worth every minute in the car! This beach has been featured in over 79 films (yes, you read that right!) and it’s easy to see why. The scenery is UNREAL.

I would highly recommend getting there early in the morning for your photos. The lighting is soft and golden, the beach is quiet, and you will practically have the whole place to yourself. Plus, when you’re growing a human, the last thing you want is to be standing in the hot afternoon sun for photos.. am I right?! ?

Our photographer was the incredibly talented Sienna Morales, and she absolutely CRUSHED IT! She made us feel so comfortable, knew all the best angles to capture the bump, and the photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined. If you are looking for a maternity photographer on Oahu, I cannot recommend her enough!

TIP: Ka’a’awa Beach Park has restrooms and showers on-site, which is super helpful for freshening up before you hop in the car for the rest of your day!

Babymoon in Hawaii

Mid-Morning: Drive to the North Shore & Breakfast at Sunrise Shack

After your photo session, it’s time to make the scenic drive up to the North Shore! The drive from Ka’a’awa to the North Shore is absolutely beautiful – you will be cruising along the coastline with ocean views the entire way. It’s about a 30-40 minute drive, depending on which Sunrise Shack location you head to.

If you have never heard of Sunrise Shack, you are in for a TREAT. This is one of the most iconic little spots on the North Shore and has been a staple since 2016. They are known for their organic bullet coffee, açaí bowls, and tropical smoothies. The vibes are just so North Shore – laid-back, colorful, and surrounded by palm trees.

TIP: Sunrise Shack can get busy, especially on weekends. I would try to get there before the late morning rush so you can snag a spot and enjoy your breakfast without feeling rushed!

Sunrise Shack Acai Bowls on North Shore hawaii

Late Morning: Snorkeling at Shark’s Cove

After fueling up with your açaí bowl and bullet coffee, it’s time to walk right over to one of the best snorkeling spots on Oahu – Shark’s Cove! And before you ask.. no, there are no sharks! ? The name comes from the shape of the cove, so you can relax!

Shark’s Cove is part of the P?p?kea Marine Life Conservation District, which means the marine life here is THRIVING. You can expect to see colorful reef fish, sea cucumbers, and if you’re lucky, maybe even a sea turtle or two! The water is crystal clear and the rocky cove creates these cool little underwater caves and ledges that are so fun to explore. This was truly the best snorkeling I have ever experienced (and I have snorkeled many times in my life sofar).

Now, I do want to give a little babymoon-specific disclaimer here – obviously, listen to your body and your doctor! If you’re in your second trimester and feeling great, a little leisurely snorkel in the calm, shallow areas of the cove is such a special experience. But if you’re not feeling up for getting in the water, just sitting on the rocks and watching the fish from above is equally as magical. There are also some really cool tide pools to explore! ?

IMPORTANT: Shark’s Cove is best for snorkeling during the summer months (April – September) when the water is calm. During winter, the swells can get HUGE and it is not safe for snorkeling. Be sure to check the surf report before heading out!

TIP: The entrance to Shark’s Cove is rocky, so I would 1000% recommend bringing water shoes! Walking on lava rock in bare feet is NOT fun. I know water shoes aren’t exactly a fashion statement, but you know what’s really not cute? Cuts all over your feet! Also, be sure to use reef-safe sunscreen – it’s actually the law in Hawaii and super important for protecting the beautiful reefs. I always use Sun Bum, which you can grab on Amazon before your trip!

Afternoon: Lunch at Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi at Turtle Bay Resort

Okay, THIS is the lunch spot of your dreams. After your morning of photos and snorkeling, you deserve a beautiful, relaxing, elevated lunch.. and Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi delivers on ALL fronts.

Beach House is located inside the Turtle Bay Resort (now The Ritz-Carlton O’ahu, Turtle Bay) on the North Shore, which is only about a 15-20 minute drive from Shark’s Cove. This open-air, beachfront restaurant will give you ocean breezes, live background music, and beautiful views of the North Shore coastline. It is the definition of tropical luxury and the perfect babymoon lunch spot!

Turtle Bay Resort

Turtle Bay Resort

Lunch is served from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM, so I would plan to arrive around noon to enjoy a leisurely meal. Be sure to make a reservation in advance because this place gets busy! Plus you will want to save yourself some time to explore the jaw-dropping Turtle Bay Resort grounds!

TIP: Ask for a table on the patio closest to the ocean. The views are absolutely stunning and it makes for the most memorable babymoon lunch! Also, save room for dessert.. you won’t regret it. ?

Evening: Sunset Walk on Waikiki Beach

After your incredible North Shore day, it’s time to make the drive back to Waikiki! The drive from Turtle Bay back to Waikiki is about an hour, which honestly is the perfect amount of time to decompress, talk about your amazing day, and maybe even sneak in a little car nap (for the mama-to-be, obviously!). ?

Once you’re back in Waikiki, head straight to the beach for a sunset walk. There is nothing more romantic than walking along Waikiki Beach as the sun dips below the horizon and the sky turns every shade of pink, orange, and purple. This is one of those simple, free, magical moments that you will remember forever.

I would recommend starting your walk near the Duke Kahanamoku Statue and strolling toward the Outrigger hotels area. The stretch of beach here is wide, the views of Diamond Head in the distance are gorgeous, and the sunset colors reflecting off the water are just unreal.

TIP: Waikiki sunsets are typically around 6:30-7:00 PM in the summer months and a bit earlier in winter. I would plan to get to the beach about 30 minutes before sunset to find a good spot and soak it all in!

After your sunset walk, it’s time for a romantic babymoon dinner! Waikiki has SO many incredible restaurants to choose from, but here are my top three recommendations:

1. La Mer at Halekulani Hotel

2. Azure at The Royal Hawaiian

3. Orchids at Halekulani Hotel

Babymoon in Hawaii Itinerary walking along the beach

Day 4: Cabana rental at hotel, Waikiki shopping, dinner in Waikiki town

After your jam-packed adventure day on the North Shore, Day 4 is all about slowing things down and soaking up the Waikiki vibes. Think poolside cabanas, frozen mocktails, a little retail therapy, and ending the night with an amazing dinner. This is the “treat yourself” day, and mama.. you DESERVE it! ?

Morning: Cabana or Beach Lounge Rental

Okay, after yesterday’s early morning and all that driving, you have officially earned the right to sleep in! There is no alarm clock on Day 4. When you’re ready, throw on your cutest swimsuit and it’s time for some serious relaxation.

Hotel Pool Cabana at your hotel pool! If you took my recommendation to stay at Waikiki Beach Marriott, they have a beautiful rooftop pool and cabana rentals available.

Babymoon on Oahu Hawaii

Afternoon: Shopping on Kal?kaua Avenue

After a relaxing morning by the pool (or beach), it’s time to freshen up and hit the shops! Kal?kaua Avenue is the main shopping street in Waikiki and it is LINED with everything from luxury designer boutiques to adorable local Hawaiian shops. Whether you want to splurge on something special or just window shop and soak in the atmosphere, this is the place to be!

TIP: If you’re looking for the cutest baby-related souvenirs (because let’s be honest, you WILL be tempted), keep an eye out for the local Hawaiian shops that sell adorable mini aloha shirts, onesies, and handmade baby items. The best souvenir from your babymoon is definitely a tiny aloha outfit for your little one! ?

Evening: Dinner in Waikiki

After a day of relaxation and shopping, it’s time for your final babymoon dinner! Here are my top three picks for an amazing dinner in Waikiki:

  1. 53 By The Sea

If you are looking for THE most romantic dinner spot in all of Waikiki (and honestly, maybe all of Oahu), 53 By The Sea is it! This stunning restaurant is right on the water with breathtaking views of the ocean, Diamond Head, and the rolling surf. It has won the Hale Aina Award for Most Romantic Restaurant multiple years in a row, and for good reason! The food is incredible, the service is impeccable, and the sunset views from your table are absolutely jaw-dropping. This is the kind of dinner where you just sit back, soak it all in, and feel so grateful for this moment before baby arrives.

2. Michel’s

This is a French restaurant right on the water! The food here is absolutely incredible. Think white table cloths, table side Cesar and dessert shows, and exceptional service.

  1. Arancino on Beachwalk

If you are in the mood for something a little more casual and cozy, Arancino on Beachwalk is the cutest Italian restaurant right in the heart of Waikiki! They have been around since 1996 and have the most warm, family-style atmosphere. The pasta is incredible, the portions are generous, and it’s the kind of place where you just feel at home. Sometimes after a long day of relaxing (yes, relaxing can be tiring when you’re pregnant!), a big bowl of pasta is exactly what you need!

That’s a Wrap!

Okay, that’s a wrap on the PERFECT four-day babymoon in Hawaii (specifically Oahu)! From stunning maternity photos at Ka’a’awa Beach Park to açaí bowls on the North Shore, snorkeling at Shark’s Cove, an incredible beachfront lunch at Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi, poolside cabana vibes, shopping along Kal?kaua Avenue, and ending each night with the most romantic dinners in Waikiki.. this is truly the most magical way to celebrate before baby arrives!

Oahu is such a special place and there is no better way to soak up those last moments as a twosome than on this beautiful island. This itinerary is the perfect balance of “let’s explore!” and “let’s do absolutely nothing”.. which, if you ask me, is the recipe for a perfect Hawaiian babymoon!

Looking for a different Island? Maybe consider Maui! Here are all my travel itineraries on a romantic weekend in Maui:

  • 20 SUPER Romantic things to do in Maui for couples
