I’m Monique. The voice behind this beloved site you’re on: My Perfect Itinerary. I am so glad to have you here on a page all about meeee! Disclaimer: I love to talk about myself so this might get lengthy…
I’m a Las Vegas native who doubles as an HR manager and a travel junkie (contradicting, I know). Unfortunately, you won’t find that “quit my corporate career / bought a one way ticket” kinda blog here! Oh no… You’ll find financial security-lovin’, wine drinking, awkward ole me.
I hope you bless you with my humorous tales, travel tips and of course… perfect itineraries (duh)!
When it all began… When I was
cursed blessed with the travel bug… Paris, Christmas of 2009.
Let me paint a quick picture for you: I was the BIGGEST teenage brat in the HISTORY of teenage brats. My wonderful and overly-patient parents took my sister and I to Paris for Christmas. Sounds magical right?! Ya, that’s what my parents thought too. I threw an absolute fit the entire 2 weeks in Paris, mostly out of pride because I secretly loved it! But hey, what 13 year old girl admits to their parents they were wrong? NOT this one (was anyone else this big of a jerk to their parents… no, just me? Love ya Mom & Dad).
Ever since, I have traveled to 12 countries and counting at the age of only 22. I spend 100% of my time off + spending money on what I love most in this world: PUPPIES! Ok… second thing I love most 🙂
I spend an UNHEALTHY amount of time day dreaming about my next travel destination and making perfect itineraries (hence the blog name) to places I have no immediate plans on going to. Because traveling is so expensive, I hate going to the same place twice! You can count on my itineraries being jam-packed so everything can be seen in one trip.
Things that I love:
- Overly priced and adorable coffee shops.
- Christmas sweaters, for dogs.
- Car Karaoke.
- Saying literally way too many times in a sentence.
- Online shopping and returning literally everything.
- Sending my parents pictures of everything I cook.
- Re-watching Gilmore Girls for the 8th time.
- Drinking high-end, super snobby wine.
- And cheap wine.
- Well, all wine actually.
- Crying over random people’s wedding videos.
- Writing color coated to-do lists with fancy pens.
- Reading every single Birthday card in the store before making a decision.
Some non-travel related / person stuff: I have a lovely boyfriend of 5+ years, a red standard poodle named Rosie (pictured below), a best friend who shares the same travel passion as me & an overly supportive family (more than I deserve)! All my travels have been with the list above – so far have never traveled alone and truly love sharing experiences with the people who I love. Pictures never do the moment justice so getting to share that image you saw with someone would be hard to beat!
Thanks so much for stopping by ?
